Presentation of FHW's publication "The Pottery of Tsanak Kale 1670-1922"
On Wednesday 1 November 2000 the book by Mrs. Katerina Korre-Zografou "The Pottery of Tsanak Kale 1670-1922" was presented at the Multifunction Theatre of "Hellenic Cosmos".
The book is the result of long term research of the writer, based on archaeological data, surface findings, documents from archives and original material which is preserved in situ or kept in museums.
The President of the Foundation Mr. Lazaros Efraimoglou addressed those that attended the event, and he said among others: "...It is an extraordinary book, even maybe exciting, which I hope you will love. I do not refer only to the fact that the writer has spent nearly a lifetime to write it, but also to the Foundation's staff, in the amazing effort that we made in order to be able to honor the work and to promote the pottery art of Tsanak Kale. We did not want to make any concession to the effort of many months and many people, to edit, page by page, in the best possible way the work that you now see before you."
Then, the book was presented by the Professor of Folklore at the University of Athens Mr. Mihalis Meraklis, the critic and art historian Mrs. Athina Shina, who mentioned characteristically that it "is the first time that such a complete and scientifically documented publication is presented", the Professor and General Secretary of the University of Athens Mr. Panagiotis Kontos and the writer herself.
Many friends of FHW attended the event, such as the Rector of the National Capodistrian University of Athens Mr. Georgios Babiniotis.
The book is available at the Museum Shop of FHW's Cultural Centre and at the major Greek bookstores.
